Who we are

A story born from family care

Servicios de Cuido y Psico-Gerontología is a microenterprise conceived, founded and led by psychologist and gerontologist Ada M. Padró González, registered with the PR Department of State in March 2011. Previously it operated in Caguas and San Juan from 9/2003 to 8/2010, under the name CoDIAM and within the same current parameters.

From age 20 she took on the role of head of household (mother and brother), and because her mother was often unwell, she had to hire people to accompany and care for her. Over time, the people she hired had to meet specific education, experience and personality requirements to guarantee proper service for her mother. This laid the foundation, as a caregiver daughter, for what is today Servicios de Cuido, Inc. (abbreviated trade name).

Psychologist Padró González focused on the market of adult children — professionals and/or business owners — whose schedules prevent them from accompanying or caring for their parents properly, due to time limitations or living far from their parents.

Our team

A multigenerational incubator of professionals

Servicios de Cuido, Inc. has become an example of multigenerational workforce blending. It includes millennials and middle-age adults, bringing a wealth of experiences and perspectives to service delivery.

For years, Servicios de Cuido, Inc. has been nourished by university students in their final years of study and recent graduates, turning us into an incubator of professionals across diverse disciplines.

Our pool of geriatric caregivers comes from nursing program graduates and/or people who hold the 30-hour gerontology certification, as established by Law 157. This law mandates that anyone providing care services to older adults must complete thirty (30) hours of gerontology courses and 6 hours of related courses annually once the basic thirty hours are completed.

Our evaluation, hiring and initial training process is structured, rigorous and comprehensive, allowing us to present properly vetted and qualified geriatric caregivers. The professional caregiving team is monitored and supervised by a Case Manager. Each geographic region has an assigned Case Manager. Case Managers are nurses, social workers and/or professionals with graduate studies in psychology.

Multidisciplinary team aligned with Puerto Rico's Law 157.
